Philosophy of Campus Crime Reporting

We at Crichton College hold that we will report all “known” crime on campus to both the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the United States Department of Education as outlined in their respective reporting guidelines.

We report to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation by using the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System (TIBRS). All campus crime, which is reported to our Reporting Agency Coordinator or the Alternate RAC is placed in the TIBRS database and then transmitted to the Crime Statistics Unit of the TBI by the 10th of every month via Internet access.

We report to the US Department of Education once a year. This information is compiled by the RAC for our institution.

Any local law enforcement intervention will be listed in our TIBRS database and the US Department of Education report as campus crime.
