Miscellaneous
- Housing and Transportation
Located in the center of the Memphis, Tennessee metroplex, Crichton College has off-campus apartment-style dormitories available to all students. Apartments have two bedrooms, a kitchen, and living area with two to four students living in each apartment. Campus security officers regularly patrol in order to monitor the apartment complex and surrounding neighborhood.
Campus shuttles provide regular transportation for students from the dormitories to the Crichton campus. Many students do not own cars but are able to easily navigate Memphis through the shuttles and transportation help of friends or the Memphis public transit system.
- Internships
Memphis is headquarters for several international organizations that offer opportunities for students seeking a corporate internship as part of their degree program, or for practical, post-graduate training. Companies include: Fed-Ex, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, International paper, AutoZone, Inc., ServiceMaster, various major and minor league sports franchises, etc. Students interested in careers in non-profit or philanthropy also have opportunities to gain experience through internships at many local or international organizations.
- Friendship Partners
This is a critical component to a successful academic experience in the United States. All students will be partnered with an American student or adult. These relationships provide friendship, hospitality, and an important connection to the local community.
- Local Chinese Community
International students face unique challenges as they enter both college and a foreign culture simultaneously. Although Friendship Partners will be able to assist with cultural adjustment and professors and students at Crichton recognize the difficulties students will face, the transition contains unique challenges understood only by other internationals.
Memphis’s Chinese population offers many opportunities for Chinese students to share and celebrate their culture through organizations such as The Chinese Society and First Chinese Baptist Church.
