Requirements
Students desiring to transfer credit from a regionally accredited junior college, college, or university are welcome and must meet the following admission requirements:
1. A transfer student must have completed 12 or more semester hours of transferable credit at a regionally accredited junior college, college, or university in order to enter Crichton as a transfer student; otherwise, the applicant must meet Freshman admission requirements. A high school transcript and ACT test scores may also be required. Transferable credit is defined, as credit with a grade of "C" or above that could be part of the student's degree program at Crichton. This credit must be from a regionally accredited institution.
2. Credit will be accepted from other regionally accredited colleges if the work parallels satisfactorily the courses offered by Crichton. Ultimate approval for credit transferability rests with the Registrar in consultation with School Deans and subject to approval by the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Academic catalogs and/or course syllabi may be requested to assist in making decisions regarding transfer of hours. Transfer students should be prepared to furnish such documentation to the admissions counselor. No more than 72 semester hours will be accepted from junior colleges or other two-year colleges toward a bachelor's degree at Crichton College.
Before admission as a transfer student can be granted, the student must file the following information in the Office of Admissions:
1. An application for admission, mailed, completed online or otherwise delivered to the Office of Day Admissions.
2. A $25.00 non-refundable application fee (this fee waived if application is completed online).
3. An official transcript from each college or university previously attended from which the student hopes to transfer credit, sent directly to the Office of Day Admissions at Crichton College.
After applying to Crichton College an Admissions Counselor will contact you regarding the status of your application as well as registration information.
3. Writing Proficiency Placement Test: All transfer students must submit to a COMPASS writing placement test for English placement regardless of previous coursework taken at any other college or university. This is intended to help you, the applicant, be completely prepared to handle upper division course work at Crichton College. Though credit may have been received for previous coursework taken, it is possible that one may be required to retake some classes at Crichton College. In these cases, credit may still be transferred in as elective credit, and the applicant would be required to fulfill all course requirements within the first year of attendance at Crichton College.
*Please see the Transferring Credit section of the academic catalog listed under Academic Information for specific details outlining transfer credit policies and procedures.
4. A non-refundable application fee of $25.00 (This fee is waived if the application is completed on-line.)
5. Any additional items and information requested of the applicant by the Office of Admissions.
*Clearance to Register as a Transfer Student
Before clearance to register will be granted, the accepted student applicant must submit the following information in the Office of Admissions:
All final official transcripts submitted and mailed directly from the applicant’s previously attended schools verifying final grades ( in all courses taken), cumulative GPA from non-remedial course work, and the applicant’s academic standing when withdrawing from that institution.
Any and all other official documentation and credentials requested by the Office of Admissions.
If an applicant is required to meet all freshman entry requirements, then that applicant must also fulfill the necessary clearance requirements as entering new freshmen.
All students are expected to pledge to demonstrate respect for the philosophy of the college in words and behavior in the classroom.
