Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The B.S. degree in Psychology equips students to use tools to engage in research, to critically analyze and solve complex problems, and to clearly communicate research results. In addition, Psychology degree course work provides Crichton students with a useful knowledge base about human behaviors, cognitive processing, emotional response, personality traits and types, growth and development, abnormalities, physiological makeup, social relationships, and spiritual functioning.
The successful Crichton psychology student will demonstrate an understanding of the history and major philosophical systems of thought that underlie psychological theories of human functioning and evaluate them from a Christian perspective.
These tools and content provide skills for entry level positions in careers that require abilities in human relationships and problem solving. Such fields include human resources management, employee relations, psychology, mental health counseling, social work, health professions, or ministry in settings such as schools, community agencies, businesses, industry, or churches.
Because it is recognized that many of these professional fields require advanced degrees for optimum career advancement, the Psychology degree major is also designed to prepare students for graduate study.
